Droid Phones

Droid PhoneThe Droid Phone series has taken on a life of it's own. As with Star Wars Fans the phones have built a brand. We are hearing many referring to the Android Project itself as "Droid". Some of the references floating around are, "I'm getting a Droid", "I want a Droid", "Those Droids are nice", "apps for Droid" the list go's on.

This guide should help users and buyers navigate the differences in "Droid Phones". Droid itself is a name owned by Lucus Films and lic. to manufacturers and wireless carriers of the smartphones. The Android community and sites like ours use the name as a description for a couple things. The first would be to describe the overall sense of open development. The brand is being promoted and built by users for users with the help of companies like Verizon Wireless, HTC Phones and Motorola. Combined with the Android development community the over shadowing sense of the sum would be described as Droid.

Droid is also a fan based in many ways. In November 2009 Droid was the next big thing in technology. In November 2010 Droid has a following that rivals the iPhone. In fact Droid and Android in it self is the only wireless phone that comes close to the Apple community. R2D2 Droid has been able to take the sense even further with the Star Wars tie in.

In many circles Droid would be used to describe any Android Phone that has certain criteria. Not just brand, but whats inside a phone is the definition of Droid. Being a device that is capable of performing software update with ease. A phone that has the latest hardware such as touch screen and processor. Does the device have the full Google Android Apps  installed. (only some phones have Android Market and Google Maps). Droid phones have Google Maps, The Android Market, Voice Search and other  Droid Apps pre installed.

Google Android Droid always will be updated with the latest versions of the OS. If we look at the history of Droid we see Google has adopted it. The company wants Droid to succeed and is doing what it takes to do so. Droid phones have received every software update to date. We can safely assume that Droid Branded Phones will in the future always be updated when possible.

HTC Phones, Motorola and now Samsung Mobile are the builders of Droid Phones.  HTC has only the Incredible and Motorola has 7 versions of Droid. Both companies have pledge to continue upgrade Droid and march forward as the leaders of cell phone technology and optimization of that technology.

Motorola Droid X2 4G

Motorola Droid X2

Fly through the Web with the 3G-enabled Motorola DROID X2 from Verizon Wireless, which bumps up the speed thanks to its dual-core 1 GHz processor. And it's complemented by a 4.3-inch qHD touchscreen display, which offers a rich 24-bit color depth and a 960 x 540-pixel resolution for extremely sharp images. The sequel to the original DROID X pocket-sized home theater, the DROID X2 also includes HDMI high-definition output for HD 1080p mirroring on an external monitor or HDTV as well as HD 720p video recording capabilities.

Samsung Droid Charge

Samsung Droid Charge

The Samsung Droid Charge is an Smartphone offering that puts 4G LTE Technology in the users hand. Super intuitive with the fastest processor to date.
The Samsung Droid Charge comes loaded with many interesting features that separates it from the smartphone onslaught. If you're looking for a high-end cell phone camera on a smart device, then let the 8 MP rear facing camera on this smart phone can deliver that and more. It includes and LED flash and auto-focus to help create all of those intriguing mirror images of themselves that people love to take. The Droid Charge also has a 1.3 MP front facing camera that allows for full video conferencing.

HTC Droid Incredible

A smartphone that lives up to its name is a rarity. With a name like Incredible, this should be doubly hard. Fortunately, this handset actually does live up to its namesake. With its 8 megapixel camera, 1 Ghz processor, and solid underlying architecture this smartphone manages to do something that some Droid iterations do not. It provides a high-speed and smooth performance without the hiccups. This is the perfect device for those who use the Verizon Wireless network. The combination of America's fastest 3G phone service and the UI of this handset is closely related to the Google Android baseline. This allow for blazing access speeds from almost anywhere in the country without the murky software glitches some of the custom interface architecture types might cause.

This smartphone is also an excellent concept handset for those who desire to buy games from the Android Market. Android games can be hit or miss with some people. However, with the Incredible the end result of the experience is based on the game app and not the device itself.

This handset is perfect for anyone who utilizes their smartphone for day to day internet access such as managing social accounts or downloading music. It can also double as a business phone due to these speeds and the 8GB internal storage. Overall, this device is a true opposition product to other well known, non-Droid, offerings on the market. Given this fact people can leave the 'rotten fruit' companies behind and work with a real smartphone.

Motorola Droid

The Droid That started it all is the Motorola droid A855. Still a top Android and preferred by many. Verizon has stopped selling the A855, but the device is still available.

There are multiple reasons users  to continue buying this phone even after so many others have been released. It functions beautifully, it has one of the thinnest slide-out QWERTY keyboards on the market and it looks downright hot. Between the high resolution touchscreen and the fact that it also features a virtual onscreen keyboard for the sake of variety, it is the best of both worlds. Some users care for one over the other. Do other companies offer this capacity? Until recently only Motorola could truly make that claim

Motorola Droid 2

Droid 2 Android PhoneThis handset is one of modern excellence in regards to design. It is a step beyond to original Droid and provides several user friendly features that recommend it heavily for individual's who found the original Droid to be slightly bulky or unwieldy. This fact makes the Droid too as a perfect 'gift for her'. The 3.7 inch display screen might seem small compared to some devices on the market currently. However, it should be noted that this Android device fits a smaller more delicate hand easier than the larger object on the market.

One of the best aspects about the Droid 2 is that the device is generally the same design as the original droid in regards to encasement. This means that all of the accessories and apps from the original Droid can transfer over to the Droid 2 immediately. In short, it's the perfect upgrade gift for Droid handset enthusiasts.

Droid Pro

Droid Pro Android PhoneThis Droid version is one designed around the business oriented individual People who have desired a true enterprise level smartphone from an Android phone now have the option for such a purchase. The QWERTY keyboard and capacitive touch-screen of this device combines to created a user-friendly interface capable of handling the most daunting of business and marketing related tasks and Droid apps.

A few of the more desired features of this device is the dual-band global capacity of the device for networking purposes. This means that people can utilize this smartphone on either a CDMA or a GSM based network. The fact that it comes packed with the Google Android 2.2 update and the ability to act as a wi-fi hot spot for up to five other devices at once cannot be underestimated either. If an individual is tired of fruit and berry phones this device is the best business oriented item on the market.

R2D2 Droid

Android Star Wars Phone.Essentially a Droid 2 the R2 D2 Phone is becoming rarer. The device was manufactured in limited numbers. Hence this Android Phone could be worth more than the finest diamond encrusted mobile phones on the list.

Motorola Droid X

In this Droid smartphone iteration we find the perfect 'gift for him'. This testosterone addled superphone is one of the largest handsets on the market. In point of fact it is so large that some would rather claim it to be a mini-tablet computer. These individuals would be wrong of course. The Droid X is the powerful workhorse of the Droid line. It's 4.3 inch display screen combined with its high-end processor causes this handset to be one of the most potent technological wonders on the market. The fact that it works with Verizon Wireless network marks it as a product which can be used almost anywhere.

This smartphone is designed for power. In many ways the technological hardware of this device makes similar attempted entries from other companies look like mere paper weights. While there may be a few negative software aspects most of these are fixed with a simple upgrade of the operating system from the Android 2.1 to the 2.2 version. This is no different than with any other android powered phone.
